Hervás

Shopping for local delicacies (cherries, ham, honey, olive products) and sightseeing in Hervás today, Friday, and so an hour’s walk over to the village before the shops shut for lunch and then back for the promised bar-b-que. There is still a cold wind but Margaret thinks that this is perfect bar-b-que weather so John is allowed out to cook the meat. Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Tomorrow we will leave here and head South (warmer weather we hope but clear skies are still promised). The plan is to camp near the Parc Natural de Monfragüe and spend some time bird watching – Black Vultures and Black Storks are on the hit list. Of that more later.

  1. I know you are getting hits on your site because tennisy people are on about the GouldBlog, but it must be a little disappointing for you that they are not telling you how much they are enjoy hearing your exploits. No-one except your family is bothering to add comment.

So here you are - and totally unsolicited - one appreciative reader encourages you to keep it up and keep the pictures and the story coming.

By the way I am sorry not to have had the opportunity before you left to brief you on Wellington's battle at Salamanca on 22 July 1812. If you didn't visit the battlefield you missed a treat.
