More Curtain Twitching

I would not say that were are particularly nosey but we like to watch and comment upon our neighbours as much as the next judgemental couple. Starved of good twitching material because the sites have been so quiet we were delighted when a young German couple hiked in to the campsite late one evening carrying large packs. He was pleased to be back in his beloved mountains she could not quite understand how he had talked her into this trip in weather that was more winter than summer. Why did every day have to be filled with such tough climbs? Margaret, who has perhaps been in the same position on occasion, just wanted to wrap her up in a warm fluffy towel and tell her everything would seem better in the morning.

Anyway the tent went up, supper was cooked, showers were had and they retired to bed. The night brought heavy rain and we decided to spend the day in doors with the heating on. Not Tigger, he was up and ready for the day’s challenge she was less enthusiastic and I think I smelt something of a mutiny. Anyway after much slow pacing around the site and making him wait an age while she prepared they set off with their day sacks.

We ventured out for a short walk but by good fortune we were back when they returned. She no happier and straight into her sleeping bag, he prepared and ate supper alone. We discussed his best course of action but restrained ourselves from offering counselling that evening.

The morning dawned bright and spirits seemed to have lifted. Clothes and sleeping bags were put out to air/dry, chores were shared and we were able to leave for our walk safe in the knowledge that their relationship had survived and they would go forward stronger for their experience. When we retuned later that day they had left and so we will never know what the rest of the holiday held for them but if you read this blog feel free to let us know.
